The fourth and final regular season meeting between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat is today’s NBA Game of the Day. The first three games between these presumptive 2012 Eastern Conference finalists went down to the wire. Two of contests were decided by four points each and the third went to overtime.
The Bulls, who lead the season series 2-1, can increase their lead over the Heat to three and a half games and clinch the number one seed in the East with a victory tonight. Chicago may be without reigning MVP Derrick Rose, who has missed three of Chicago’s last five games. Rose (foot) and All-Star forward Luol Deng (ribs) will both be game-time decisions.
If Miami wants to keep their slim (actually nearly non-existent) chances of earning the Eastern Conference’s top seed alive, the Heat have to win tonight regardless of who suits up for the Bulls. Even if Miami gets a victory tonight, the Heat will need Chicago to lose at least one of their final three games just to have a chance at finishing the regular season tied with the Bulls.
