This will be the third and final meeting of this season between these two Western Conference foes. Phoenix leads the series 2-0 and owns the tiebreaker should the Jazz and Suns finish the season with the same record.
With just two games remaining in the regular-season and a one-game lead over Phoenix, the eighth-place Jazz can clinch the West’s final playoff berth with a victory. To get that win Utah will have to put an end to a seven-game losing streak to the Suns.
Phoenix can keep its playoff hopes alive by extending its win streak over the Jazz to eight games. This is an elimination game for the Suns. If they lose tonight, they will miss the postseason for the third time in four years. If the Suns win, tomorrow night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs just might turn out to be a first-round Western Conference playoff series preview.
