The 2011 NBA Finals featured the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat. The Mavericks stole home-court advantage from the Heat when Dirk Nowitzki hit a game-winning layup to give Dallas a 95-93 Game 2 victory. At the end of Game 3, Nowitzki had an opportunity to tie the game, but his shot bounced off the back rim as time expired and the Mavericks lost the game, 88-86. That would be Dallas’ final loss of the season. The Mavericks won Games 4, 5 and 6 to earn the franchise’s first NBA Championship.
